Archival Box Set
Based on 150 letters, postcards, archival files, and cassette tapes sent by Zalman Winder (Zalman-Shoshi) to police officer Ephraim Ehrlich, the project traces a process of self-reinvention through the archive. Known publicly as a cross-dressing figure with a camp, colorful, and often ridiculed persona, Zalman had worked in prostitution for many years. The project follows his attempt to construct new identities associated with expertise, authority, and professional status.
